I have gone out
to meet this immense desert
and I have encountered caves
and creeks
and amazed rivers
fed by sheer cheeks
of mesa,
and more mesa,
ruby
oak
marrow
rock
and pale-as-silt
flowers
little mellow settlements
and
there
amazed
